Every national cuisine has its traditional dishes.
In Czech cuisine, these are pork dumpling zelo, sirloin sauce, fruit dumplings or potato dumplings.
Today we will look together at another Czech classic – recipes for beef with garlic.
However, we will imagine this popular dish in slightly non-traditional versions.
So forget potato dumpling and spinach for a while and discover new flavor combinations with us!
Beef slices on garlic with herbs
To prepare this dish, you can use sirloin, roast or leg. Do not cut the meat slices too thick, and pat them lightly if necessary.
Ingredients
- 400 g of beef
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1 teaspoon of fresh chopped thyme
- 1 teaspoon fresh chopped rosemary
- 1 teaspoon of fresh chopped oregano
- 3 tablespoons of butter
- olive oil
- salt pepper
Method
- Lightly salt and pepper the sliced beef.
- Sauté the slices briskly for a few minutes on each side in a pan with olive oil and a little butter.
- Then cook the beef for a few more minutes on each side, until tender.
- Add the rest of the butter, pressed or finely chopped garlic and freshly chopped herbs to the pan.
- When the butter has melted and the garlic and herbs are fragrant, you can serve.
This dish tastes great with American potatoes or French fries.

Roast beef with garlic
Come with us to try a variant with a special rosemary scent. You will see that you will amaze everyone who tastes it with this tasty dish.
Ingredients
- 500 g of beef (e.g. roast or leg)
- 4 cloves of garlic
- 4 teaspoons of fresh chopped rosemary
- 2 cups of beef broth
- salt pepper
Method
- Preheat the oven to 200°C.
- Cut the whole beef about half way up, as if you were going to slice it, but don’t cut the slice.
- Sprinkle the meat with chopped slices of garlic, part of the garlic can also be pressed and then rubbed into the meat, rosemary, coarsely ground pepper and salt.
- Pour over the broth and place in the preheated oven.
- Bake for about an hour, depending on the type and height of the meat and your preferences.
Beef in garlic in the oven can be served, for example, with mashed potatoes or American potatoes.

Beef on garlic with spinach
A classic of all classics. But how about preparing it a little unconventionally? Cutting the meat into strips instead of the usual slices, using soy sauce and lemon juice, all this will be a pleasant revival.
Ingredients
- 700 g of beef
- 500 g of fresh spinach
- 5 cloves of garlic
- 1/2 cup broth
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 4 tablespoons of butter
- freshly squeezed juice from half a lemon
- salt pepper
- fresh parsley and chives
Method
- Cut the beef into strips and marinate them for approximately one hour in a marinade made from soy sauce, olive oil, two cloves of pressed garlic, salt and pepper.
- Wash the spinach and let it cook gently for 1 minute in a pan in which you have melted one tablespoon of butter. Stir the spinach throughout the cooking time.
- Remove the spinach from the pan and melt another two tablespoons of butter in the same pan and add the marinated beef noodles.
- Fry the noodles in a pan on both sides for a few minutes.
- Then remove the noodles from the pan and put them on a plate, which you cover so that the meat does not get too cold.
- Then melt the last tablespoon of butter in the pan, add the rest of the crushed garlic, lemon juice, red pepper flakes, stock, chopped fresh parsley and chives, as well as the rest of the beef marinade.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly, and let it reduce for 1-2 minutes.
- Return the beef noodles to the pan and simmer until tender.
- Then move the noodles to one side of the pan and place the pre-prepared spinach on the other side, which should be warmed in the juice.
This dish can only be served like this, garnished with slices of lemon and pieces of fresh chives or parsley. Alternatively, it can of course also be served classically with a potato dumpling.

Spinach is very healthy and it would be a shame to consume it only as a side dish. Get inspired by other spinach delicacies , such as spinach pancakes, risotto or spread!

Beef with garlic and rice
If you prefer a healthy and light diet, definitely try not only rice, but also bulgur or quinoa as a side dish for this dish.
Ingredients
- 300 g beef tenderloin
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1 teaspoon of dried minced garlic
- 2 teaspoons of solamyl or cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
- olive oil
- salt pepper
- spring onion for garnish
Method
- Cut the beef into bite-sized pieces, place in a bowl and sprinkle with solamyl.
- Add pressed or finely chopped garlic, salt, pepper and olive oil.
- Mix the mixture thoroughly and then put it on the hot pan.
- Sauté the meat for a few minutes, stirring frequently, until it begins to soften.
- Then add soy sauce and dried garlic.
- Stir and cook for a few more minutes.
- Add salt as needed and garnish with sliced spring onions.
Serve with long-grain types of rice, such as jasmine or basmati.

Garlic Beef Cubes
Pepper, especially black pepper, is one of the most versatile and widely used spices in the world. But why not also add a little red pepper, whose distinct flavor goes perfectly with the beef?
Ingredients
- 500 g of beef
- 4 cloves of garlic
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- olive oil
- salt pepper
- fresh parsley
Method
- Heat the olive oil in a pan and add the diced beef that you previously salted and peppered.
- Fry the pieces of meat for several minutes, stirring frequently, until they are lightly golden brown on all sides.
- Remove the meat from the pan and add the butter.
- Add red pepper flakes and finely chopped garlic cloves to the melted butter.
- Cook the garlic and pepper for about a minute, stirring constantly, until the garlic starts to turn golden.
- Pour the beef into the pan, mix, cook the meat until soft.
- Serve sprinkled with chopped parsley.
Serve this dish with rice or mashed potatoes.

Beef with ginger and garlic
Ginger is often considered almost a panacea in folk medicine. Take advantage of the health-promoting properties of this spice and add it to your favorite dish!
Ingredients
- 500 g of beef
- 1 tbsp dried minced garlic
- 1 tbsp dried ground ginger
- 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
- 1/3 cup Shaoxing rice wine
- 1 tbsp of solamyl or cornstarch
- oil
- ground chili peppers
- salt pepper
Method
- Cut the beef into pieces and put it to marinate in the mixture you prepared from garlic, ginger, soy sauce, wine, solamyl and spices.
- Marinate the meat for at least two hours.
- Heat the oil in a deep pan and fry the marinated pieces of meat in it.
- After a few minutes, add the remaining marinade and cook, stirring constantly, until the meat is tender and the sauce caramelizes.
Beef with garlic and ginger is best served with rice, or also with pieces of steamed broccoli.
