How to eat beetroot?

Beetroot, is one of the four types of beet.. Other types of beet include sugar beet and Swiss chard, which is used for livestock.

But the varieties don’t stop there, we even identify five subtypes of beets, including:

Detroit Red Beet – these have the darkest red roots of any beet
Formanova red beet – this variety grows in the shape of a cylinder
Lutz Green Leaf beetroot – this variety is the largest among all types of beetroot
Chioggia beetroot – this beetroot has red and white striped roots
Golden beet – this type of beet has roots the color of carrots

Like other root vegetables, beets are very versatile when it comes to cooking them. Both leaves and roots can be roasted or sautéed. Alternatively, you can chop the roots and eat them raw as a snack or add them to a salad.

Another option is to puree the cooked root to make hummus or use it as a base for baking buns. You can add beetroot to your favorite creamy beetroot smoothie recipe for an extra kick.
