Baked chicken with stuffing

Stuffed chicken is one of the most popular dishes. And why stuff the chicken?

When the meat is baked whole, it is sometimes drier. The stuffing inside the cavity ensures that the meat does not dry out during baking and can be baked for a longer period of time. The juice from the meat will soak into the stuffing, and the spices from it will add a bit of flavor to the meat.

  • 1 pc whole chicken
  • 6 pcs of older rolls
  • 2 eggs
  • 200 ml of milk
  • 100 g of butter
  • salt and pepper
  • a pinch of grated nutmeg
  • 2-3 tablespoons of fresh chopped parsley

  1. Wash, salt and prepare the chicken in a baking dish or baking dish.
  2. Cut the rolls into cubes and let them soak in milk.
  3. Meanwhile, rub the butter with a little salt, spices and egg yolk.
  4. Make thick snow from egg whites.
  5. Mix the squeezed rolls (not completely dry) and egg whites into the melted butter.
  6. Fill the inside of the chicken with the stuffing.
  7. If we have leftover stuffing, we put it in the baking dish next to the chicken and bake it together.
  8. Place small pieces of butter on the skin of the chicken.
  9. Pour in a little water.
  10. Close the lid and bake at 180°C for about 1.5 – 2 hours.
  11. Toward the end of baking, turn the lid off and let the crust bake until crispy.
