Egg salad comes in many forms

There are a huge number of egg salad recipes. The most popular variants include those with potatoes, mayonnaise, ham or tomatoes. But it can be said that we can add almost all kinds of vegetables to it. If you prefer lighter and healthier versions of the dishes, replace the mayonnaise with yogurt or sour cream. The most common spices used are salt, pepper and sweet paprika, but if you like stronger flavors, you can also use more spicy spices. Last but not least, you can of course add a variety of fresh herbs to the egg salad.

Why eat eggs?

Were you also taught at home from a young age that eggs are full of harmful cholesterol and that you should therefore avoid eating them? Probably yes, because it wasn’t until a few years ago that it turned out to be not entirely true. Various scientific studies have drawn attention to the fact that eggs contain linoleic acid and lecithin, which in turn help to reduce the level of bad cholesterol in our body.

In addition, eggs are also a rich source of other health-promoting substances, such as proteins and omega-3 fatty acids. Of the vitamins, they mainly contain group B vitamins, but also vitamins C, D, E and K. Of course, everything applies in moderation, experts usually recommend two eggs a day for adults. It is more appropriate to consume eggs from organic farms.

Eggs and their effect on our health

Adequate regular consumption of eggs brings a number of positives to our organism. In addition to the already mentioned reduction of bad cholesterol, eggs are also great for our immunity. Lutein and zeaxanthin, two of the antioxidants that eggs contain, have been proven to have a positive effect on the health of our eyes.
