Why include cauliflower in your diet?
Cauliflower, which, together with cabbage or cabbage, belongs to the so-called cruciferous vegetables, contains a large amount of vitamins, fiber, antioxidants and other health-promoting substances. In terms of vitamins, it is particularly rich in vitamin C, which contains even more than lemons or oranges.
Other vitamins found in it are, for example, vitamin A, K and some vitamins of the B group. It contains a large amount of potassium, calcium, phosphorus and manganese as minerals. Cauliflower can be consumed not only cooked, whether in the form of fried cauliflower florets, brains or soup, but also raw.
Why is it advisable to boil cauliflower before frying?
Briefly boiling cauliflower, which in other words is called blanching, fulfills several functions. On the one hand, fried cauliflower prepared in this way is easier to digest, and on the other hand, the individual florets remain crispy.
Proper blanching consists of a short boil in salt water, approximately 5 minutes, and a subsequent rapid cooling in cold water. This will cause the boiling to stop and the cauliflower will remain crunchy to the bite.
What kind of oil should I cook fried cauliflower in?
When it comes to the oil that is most suitable for frying, experts recommend especially rapeseed oil, which has a low content of saturated fatty acids and at the same time a high proportion of monounsaturated fatty acids. Similarly, olive oil is also suitable for frying. Plain is enough, it is not necessary to use extra virgin.
On the contrary, it is not very suitable to use sunflower oil for frying, which has a lower ratio of monounsaturated fatty acids, which causes its thermal instability, and butter is not suitable either.
