A bit of “gingerbread” history

Gingerbread spice first appeared in Central Europe in the Middle Ages. It is a sugar and spice product that was brought from the Middle East by soldiers returning from the Crusades.

You will find anise, cardamom, coriander, fennel, ground cinnamon and cloves in it.

Gingerbread began to be associated with Christmas only in the 19th century, when it became a popular delicacy in the markets of Germany, France and England.

Today, you can prepare recipes for gingerbread desserts, from cake, to cookies, to bread, which tastes great with milk or cream, not only at Christmas, but all year round.
