Before brushing the pretzels with egg and putting them in the oven, we can soak the pretzels. All you have to do is immerse the pretzel after it has risen for 20-30 seconds in a liter of boiling water in which you have dissolved three tablespoons of baking soda. The pretzels will then have the typical darker color that we know from our western neighbors.

Savory pastries are not only made from puff pastry

Even though many people think of the term savory pastry primarily as various sticks, snails and other shapes made of puff pastry, this is far from the truth.

Savory delicacies can also be prepared from leavened dough or dough enriched with various types of cheese, yogurt or sour cream. Apart from them, various herbs and spices are also an integral ingredient of this type of pastry. It can be said that there are no limits to imagination. It depends on what flavors you prefer.

Useful tools for preparing savory pastries

The preparation of savory pastries is usually not difficult at all. In addition to basic tools such as a bowl, a wooden spoon, a roller or a rolling pin, a pizza cutter will come in handy especially for crackers, which guarantees wavy edges of the crackers.

In addition, you can also use a variety of cookie cutters, such as circles, hearts or stars, which you would otherwise use for Christmas cookies, for various shapes, from both unleavened and leavened dough. You can easily and quickly create salty biscuits of various shapes.
