  • 2 ¼ cup sugar
  • 5 ¼ cup water
  • 1 tablespoon of citric acid

Preparation process

  • Pour the water into a pot of the appropriate size.
  • As soon as the water starts to boil, sprinkle sugar and citric acid.
  • Cook until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Preservation of pears in the oven

You can easily preserve pears in the oven. With our recipe, it’s a piece of cake!

You will need

  • pears
  • infusion
  • jar
  • newspaper or cloth
  • deep plate

Preparation process

  • Sterilize the canning jars and prepare the pickle.
  • Preheat the oven to 150 degrees Celsius.
  • Wash the pears and remove any unwanted particles.
  • Cut them into quarters and place in jars.
  • Depending on your taste, you can add cinnamon, cloves or part of a vanilla pod to the pears in the glasses.
  • Then pour the cooled pickle over the pears up to the edge.
  • Close the jars carefully with a lid and place them on a tray lined with newspaper or a tea towel.
  • Place the glasses further apart and fill them with water.
  • Bake for about 20 minutes.
  • You can also try the variant where you close the jars with a lid only after taking them out of the oven – the lid will stick to the jar immediately.
  • After removing from the oven, turn the jars upside down and let them cool until the next day.
  • Then store them in a suitable place – the chamber should be dark and cool.

Classic canning of pears

You will need

  • pears
  • infusion
  • canning pot with a thermometer
  • jar

Preparation process

  • Wash and dry the pears thoroughly.
  • Don’t forget to peel them from the skin – you can use a vegetable peeler.
  • Remove the stems and cut each pear in half.
  • Remove the inner cores and nucleoli.
  • Soak the pears in water with lemon juice to prevent them from browning.
  • Prepare a sugar syrup or infusion with one part sugar to two parts water.
  • Put the pears in the prepared canning jars and add cinnamon, cloves or ginger to them.
  • Pour the pickle into the jars and close the lids carefully.
  • Place the jars in the canning pot and cover them with water so that they are completely submerged.
  • Cook for about 20 minutes at 85 degrees.
  • Then take them out of the pot and turn them upside down – place them on a tea towel.
  • Leave to cool – preferably overnight and then store.

This canning method is not suitable for children as it contains alcohol, but it is an absolutely delicious way to preserve pears.

You will need

  • 4 cups of orange juice
  • 8 pears
  • 2 cups of water
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 sticks of cinnamon
  • 80 milliliters of Captain Morgan rum

Adjust the amount of ingredients according to the amount of pears.

Preparation process

  • Start by washing and sterilizing the jars.
  • Pour the orange juice into a large bowl.
  • Clean the pears, cut them into slices or small cubes and put them in a bowl with juice.
  • In the meantime, prepare a light pickle with a combination of water and sugar – rather remove the sugar, pears contain their own sugar and there is enough of it in the alcohol.
  • Stack the pears in glasses, add cinnamon, rum and cover them with the pickle.
  • Close the lids carefully and place them in the canning pot.
  • Cook for 20 minutes at 80 degrees.

Canning in the dishwasher is a bit unconventional, but it’s simple and really effective.

You will need

  • pears
  • infusion

Preparation process

  • Prepare the jars – sterilize them. (choose rather larger or smaller glasses)
  • Wash, clean and cut the pears in half – remove the cores.
  • In the meantime, prepare the pickle.
  • Put the pears in the glasses, you can add cinnamon, cloves or vanilla pod to them – as you like.
  • Pour the marinade over them and carefully close the lid.
  • Stack glasses about 1 centimeter apart in the bottom of the dishwasher.
  • Put the smaller ones in the upper part.
  • It is important that all the glasses stand straight.
  • Turn on the dishwasher for the longest program (water temperature should be about 75-80 degrees) and let it finish.
  • Take out the glasses and turn them upside down – let them cool.

You will need

  • 8 pears
  • 2 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup freshly grated ginger
  • juice of three limes
  • grated lime zest

Preparation process

  • Wash, clean, peel and cut the pears into small pieces.
  • Then put all the ingredients in a pot and bring to a boil.
  • Start by heating slowly – the important thing is to dissolve the sugar.
  • The whole mixture is boiled for about 15 minutes, stirring constantly – until it thickens.
  • Put the resulting marmalade into jars and tightly tighten the lids.
  • Place in a pot of water and cook for another 10 minutes.
  • Finally, pull them out and turn them upside down.
  • It is a good idea to check that the jars are tightly closed.

Pear chutney

This chutney is great as a side sauce for almost any meal.

You will need

  • 200 g cane sugar
  • 200 ml of vinegar
  • 100 ml of apple cider
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 red onions – chopped into pieces
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 10 pears – peeled and diced
  • some chili
  • 50 g of raisins

Preparation process

  • Combine sugar, vinegar, apple cider, star anise, cumin, red onion and ginger in a large saucepan and bring to a boil.
  • Add the pears and chilli and cook for 40 minutes until the juices are syrupy and the pears are cooked. Stir in the raisins and let the mixture cool.
  • Fill the sterilized jars with the mixture, which we heat sufficiently in advance.
  • Let cool and store.
