How do you make bechamel for lasagna?

Béchamel is the queen of white sauces originally from France, where Louis de Béchameil, who was a clerk, invented it.

Although it is most often used for lasagna, it is also suitable as a base for cheese sauces or in the preparation of moussaka.

The basis is a light broth to which milk, cream and broth are added.

Ingredients

  • 50 g of fresh butter
  • 600 ml of milk
  • 50 g plain flour
  • salt to taste
  • ground white pepper
  • nutmeg

Method

  1. We start by melting the butter in a saucepan. Meanwhile, pour the milk into a bowl and mix it with plain flour using a whisk.
  2. While stirring constantly, pour the mixture prepared in this way to the melted butter and bring to a boil. It is important not to stop mixing.
  3. As soon as the sauce boils, lower the heat and let it simmer for 3 to 5 minutes on a low heat. Finally, salt, season with white pepper and add a pinch of grated nutmeg.
