Panini with Italian filling

Use this easy recipe as inspiration and tweak it to your liking. Use focaccia or ciabatta or try different herbs and cheese, for example.

What will we need

  • 340g French bread (cut in half horizontally)
  • 30 ml of mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
  • 110 g of grated fresh mozzarella cheese
  • 60 g of prosciutto
  • 2 tomatoes (thinly sliced)

Method

  • Spread 2 tablespoons mayonnaise on the cut side of each half of the bread.
  • Sprinkle basil and ½ cheese on the bottom half of the bread.
  • Top with prosciutto, tomato slices and remaining ½ cheese evenly.
  • Cover with the top half of the bread.
  • Cut the filled loaf crosswise into 4 equal parts.
  • Heat a grill pan to medium heat.
  • Coat the pan with oil.
  • Add the sandwiches to the pan.
  • Place the sandwiches in the pan and press them down with a heavy pan so they press against the pan and form a grid.
  • Fry for 3 minutes on each side or until the bread is toasted.

Chicken panini

Toasted bread with chicken meat, warm, tasty filling and melted mozzarella cheese. Need a quick lunch? That’s him!

What will we need

  • 5 panini breads
  • 500 g of chicken breast
  • 150 g of Mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons of oil
  • 1 onion
  • 1 bell pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of tomato puree
  • spoon of mayonnaise
  • spoon of ketchup

For marinating

  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon chili sauce

Method

  • Cut the chicken into small pieces and add to the bowl along with the marinating ingredients.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a pan over medium heat, then add the marinated chicken mixture
  • Cook for 6-8 minutes.
  • While the chicken is cooking, finely chop the onion and pepper, add to the pan and cook for another 4-5 minutes.
  • Finely chop the tomatoes, add to the pan along with the tomato puree and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Once the chicken mixture is cooked, slice the panini breads lengthwise and then add the ketchup and mayo.
  • Add the chicken mixture to the panini along with the mozzarella.
  • Add oil to a grill pan and heat, then grill for 2-3 minutes on each side until the bread is lightly browned.
  • Serve with fries.

Vegetarian Panini

Even without the meat, this vegetarian Panini is a delicious hot sandwich filled with cheese, tomato, avocado, spinach and more.

What will we need

  • 2 slices of sourdough bread
  • mayonnaise
  • butter
  • 1 slice of cheese
  • 6 spinach leaves
  • 2 slices of tomatoes
  • ½ avocado sliced

Method

  • Start by slicing the avocado and tomatoes.
  • Then spread the slices of sourdough bread on each side with butter.
  • Add mayo, spinach, tomatoes, and cheese to a sandwich and place on a griddle or grill for a panini.
  • Bake for a few minutes on medium heat.
  • When done, add avocado slices and serve warm.

Italian panini with ham and cheese

Ham and cheese is a classic combination. We give this panini a light French twist by adding Dijon mustard and cheese sauce.

What will we need

For the sauce

  • 15 g of butter
  • 7 g of flour
  • 170 ml (hot)
  • 85g Swiss or Gruyère cheese (grated)

For filling

  • 230 g ham (cut into thin slices)
  • 230 g Swiss cheese (thinly sliced)
  • 30 g Dijon mustard
  • 90 g of soft butter
  • 8 slices of rustic sourdough bread

Method

  • To make the sauce, melt the butter in a saucepan set over medium-high heat.
  • Add the flour, stirring to combine.
  • Slowly pour in the milk, stirring constantly, until a thick sauce forms.
  • Bring to a gentle boil, add cheese and stir until melted.
  • Spread half of the bread slices on one side with the warm sauce.
  • Top with a slice of ham and then a slice of cheese.
  • Spread Dijon mustard on one side of the remaining slices of bread and place them mustard-side down on top of the cheese.
  • Brush the top of the sandwich with butter and place it butter side down on the hot surface of the pan or grill.
  • Butter the other side of the bread, then close the grill or cover the pan with a lid.
  • Cook the sandwich for 3 to 5 minutes on one side, flip and cook for another 3 to 5 minutes until golden to your liking.
