Paris salad has many different variations
There are a huge number of recipes for Parisian salad, often differing by country of origin. In our country and in German-speaking countries, the basic ingredients are Paris salami, which gave the salad its name, onions, sterilized cucumbers, peas and mayonnaise, in many cases special with mustard, Worcestershire sauce or cucumber varnish.
If you prefer lighter and healthier dishes, mayonnaise can be replaced or mixed with yogurt or sour cream. The most common spices used are salt and pepper, but you can also add a pinch of sweet pepper or, if you like more pronounced flavors, spicy spices. Last but not least, a variety of fresh herbs, especially parsley or dill, can of course be added to the Parisian salad.
What to replace Parisian salami?
Even though the name of the salad refers to the name of the French metropolis, it is a purely Czech or rather Czechoslovakian delicacy that was especially popular in the 1970s and 1980s. Finding the main ingredient, i.e. Paris salami, is often not easy these days, but other soft salamis, especially junior, or even Gothai salami, will serve you just as well. In order for the salad to have the taste we remember from childhood or youth, it is necessary to let it sit in the refrigerator so that the individual ingredients penetrate each other better.
How to eat Parisian salad?
The classic is above all the simple consumption of salad with fresh bread, especially white bread, or its use on sandwiches. In addition, it can also be served as part of an appetizer or to fill hard-boiled eggs with it.
