INGREDIENTS for 10 cakes

  • 200 g of ground poppy seeds
  • 250 ml of whole milk
  • 1 vanilla sugar
  • 3 tablespoons honey (or granulated sugar)
  • 1 tablespoon of rum
  • a pinch of cinnamon


  1. Boil milk, poppy seeds and sugar together.
  2. Season with honey, rum and cinnamon.

Poppy seed bun with mascarpone cream

This dessert has a luxurious taste and texture and you will surely like it. The combination of poppy seed and vanilla dough and delicious mascarpone cream is simply unforgettable!


For the dough:

  • 1 vanilla pod
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2/3 cup poppy seeds
  • 1 and 2/3 cups cake flour
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 170 g butter at room temperature
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 4 egg whites at room temperature
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar

For the cream:

  • 230 g mascarpone
  • 3-4 teaspoons of powdered sugar to taste
  • 1/3 cup deluxe whipping cream
  • a drop of vanilla extract


  1. Gently beat the mascarpone and sugar to the cream until combined.
  2. Add the cream and vanilla and mix until the mixture is smooth and a little thick.
  3. Be careful not to mix, or the mascarpone will start to fall apart.
  4. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  5. Cut the vanilla pod lengthwise on the dough.
  6. Boil the milk with the vanilla pod.
  7. Put the poppy seeds in a bowl and cover with milk boiled with vanilla pods.
  8. Cool to room temperature.
  9. Scrape the vanilla pod into the milk mixture.
  10. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees Celsius.
  11. We prepare a 23 cm round cake tin, grease it with butter, sprinkle it with flour and put baking paper on it.
  12. Sift the cake flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl.
  13. Beat the butter until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
  14. Gradually add 1 cup of the sugar and continue beating until the mixture is very light and creamy, about 5 minutes.
  15. Add one-third of the flour mixture, alternately with half of the milk-poppy mixture and finish with the flour mixture.
  16. We stop the mixer just before mixing thoroughly and gently finish mixing by hand using a rubber spatula.
  17. Beat the egg whites and a pinch of salt on medium speed to form soft peaks.
  18. We continue to beat and add 1/4 cup of sugar, just a little at a time.
  19. Increase the speed to high just before adding the last few teaspoons of sugar.
  20. Beat until peaks form that are stiff and glossy, about 1 minute.
  21. Mix a third of the beaten egg whites into the dough.
  22. We continue to carefully add the remaining egg whites and mix gently.
  23. Scrape the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 50-55 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  24. Let cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes.
  25. Turn the bun out of the mold and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
  26. Decorate with cream and serve.

INGREDIENTS for 2 pants

  • 300 g plain flour
  • 125 g of butter
  • 150 ml whole milk
  • 1 spoon of sugar
  • 20 g of yeast
  • pinch of salt
  • Poppy filling according to the recipe above


  1. Mix flour and salt in a bowl.
  2. From milk, yeast and sugar, we make leaven.
  3. Melt the butter and add it to the flour together with the yeast.
  4. We make the dough and let it rise for 10 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  6. Divide the dough into 2 parts and roll out.
  7. Spread the poppy seed filling.
  8. Roll up and we will have 2 pants.
  9. Brush with egg.
  10. Bake for approximately 20 minutes.
  11. Sprinkle the still hot strudel with icing sugar.

  • 40 g of butter
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon of rum
  • Poppy filling according to the recipe above
  • icing sugar


  1. Mix flour and salt in a bowl.
  2. From milk, yeast and sugar, we make leaven.
  3. Melt the butter and add it to the flour together with the yeast.
  4. Stir in the egg yolk and rum.
  5. We make the dough and let it rise for an hour.
  6. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  7. Roll out the dough.
  8. Cut into squares and add the filling.
  9. Shape the buns and place them on a baking sheet.
  10. Brush the buns with melted butter.
  11. Let it rise for 20 minutes.
  12. Bake for approximately 15 minutes.
  13. While still hot, sprinkle with icing sugar.
