Homemade puff pastry

Of course, you can easily buy this dough in any supermarket. But why not try DIY? The preparation is very easy!

  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 cup butter (unmelted)
  • 1/2 cup of water

  1. Mix the flour and salt in a large bowl.
  2. Add the butter cut into pieces to the mixture and mix it with the other ingredients.
  3. Add water and work everything into a thick dough.
  4. Shape the dough into a disk and wrap it in cling film.
  5. Then put the dough in the fridge for an hour or in the freezer for 20 minutes.
  6. After this time, roll out the dough on a rolling pin into a rectangle.
  7. Then fold the dough into thirds, similar to how you would fold a letter.
  8. Turn the dough 90 degrees and fold it again in the same way.
  9. Repeat two more times.
  10. Finally, store the dough in a plastic bag and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before use.

What shapes you will subsequently adjust the puff pastry into and what other ingredients you will enrich it with, it only depends on your imagination.
