Proven preparation advice
How to make the best cottage cheese dough? Take a look at a few small gadgets, or get inspired in the video recipe:
- Use cubed soft cottage cheese, not from a tub. The tub contains too much liquid and the dough becomes unnecessarily sticky.
- Let the curd that is too watery drip off in a strainer or you can squeeze out the excess liquid through cheesecloth.
- Instead of flour, you can use semolina or baby semolina in the recipes, the dough is then softer.
- Dumplings can be frozen raw, and whenever you feel like them, all you have to do is transfer them from the freezer to boiling water, let them cook for a few minutes before they float to the surface and you can serve.
- If you don’t have fresh fruit on hand, you can use frozen.
- Traditionally, dumplings are served with grated hard cottage cheese, icing sugar and melted butter, but try butter, sugar, cinnamon and sliced almonds or butter, sugar and poppy seeds. Sour cream is also great.
