Borani is an Iranian dip made from plain yogurt, crunchy celery stalks, dried mint, dill and dried cranberries. The cranberries add texture and color to the dip and balance the strong flavor of the celeriac with a hint of sweetness. Delicacy!

What you will need

  • ¼ cup roasted hazelnuts, skinned
  • 2 cups Greek yogurt
  • 4 large stalks of celery, cut into centimeter cubes
  • 1 spring onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons dried cranberries, roughly chopped, plus more for garnish
  • 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon dried mint and more for garnish
  • 2 teaspoons dried dill or 1 tablespoon fresh chopped dill, plus extra for garnish
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • extra virgin olive oil


  • Coarsely chop the hazelnuts, set aside a few for garnish and place the rest in a medium-sized bowl.
  • Add yogurt, celery stalks, spring onions, dried cranberries, lemon juice, mint, dill and salt to a bowl and mix well.
  • Taste and adjust all the spices to your taste.
  • Dip can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • To serve, garnish with hazelnuts, cranberries and a little dried mint and dill.
  • Drizzle with olive oil and serve with chips or pancakes.

Avocado spread with celery stalks

A healthy spread of avocado, celery stalks, cream cheese and chili peppers will spice up your celebration. It is delicious and easy to prepare!

What you will need

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 tablespoon chopped chives
  • 1-2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • salt to taste
  • 2-3 stalks of celery, finely chopped or grated
  • 1 tablespoon of cream cheese


  • In a bowl, peel and chop the avocado.
  • Clean and wash the celery stalks.
  • Finely chop or grate it.
  • In a large bowl, peel and mash the avocado with a fork.
  • Add the chopped celeriac, chopped chives, green chillies, lemon juice, cream cheese and salt.
  • Mix everything.
  • Serve spread on your favorite pastry garnished with fresh chives.

Chickpea dip with celery stalks

Try this quick and easy Celery Chickpea Dip recipe that makes a great plant-based snack for you and your kids!

What you will need

  • 425 g canned chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 tablespoons of white Greek yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon capers
  • 1/2 cup diced celery stalks
  • chopped fresh chives
  • 1 large clove of garlic
  • salt, to taste


  • Add all ingredients to a food processor or blender and blend until smooth.
  • Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and serve with your favorite crackers.
  • Enjoy your meal!

Curry spread made from celery stalks and apples

From a nutritional point of view, this is an absolutely perfect spread. It is rich in protein and fiber, but low in fat and calories. Plus it tastes great!

What you will need

  • 2 dashes of curry powder
  • 110 g of cream cheese
  • 1 tablespoon of buttermilk
  • 1 stalk of celery stalks
  • 1 small apple
  • salt
  • pepper


  • Mix the curry with 2 tablespoons of warm water.
  • Mix with cream cheese into a creamy mixture.
  • Rinse the celeriac, chop it finely and chop the leaves.
  • Set 1 tablespoon celery stalks aside.
  • Wash, dry, quarter and core the apple.
  • Finely chop the apple.
  • Mix the cream curry cheese with the apple, diced celeriac and celery leaves.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Serve the spread spread on bread or with crackers and garnish with the remaining chopped celeriac.

Creamy vegetable spread

An amazing great appetizer that you can share with your family or friends at any gathering. The spread is full of vegetables and you can enjoy it with crackers or other vegetables.

What you will need

  • 2 diced carrots
  • 1/2 bell pepper, seeded and cut into pieces
  • 1/2 cucumber, peeled and cut into pieces
  • 3 stalks of celery, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, halved (optional)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 230 g of softened cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt


  • In the bowl of a food processor, combine the carrot, bell pepper, cucumber, celery stalks, broccoli, and jalapeno (if using).
  • Blend until the vegetables are finely chopped.
  • In a large bowl, mix sour cream, cream cheese, mayonnaise, lemon juice and salt.
  • Blend until the mixture is creamy.
  • Add the vegetables and stir until combined.
  • Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  • Serve with fresh vegetables or crackers.

Olive dip with celery stalks

The creamy dip with olives and celery stalks is incredibly tasty and will be loved by those who are not exactly in love with olives!

What you will need

  • 230 g cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon of dill pickle
  • 8 large olives stuffed with pimento peppers, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon of olive juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of chives
  • 1 spring onion, chopped (whole)
  • 2 stalks of celery, finely chopped


  • Using a blender, beat the cream cheese until smooth.
  • Add mayonnaise and mix.
  • Add the dill pickle, chopped olives and olive juice.
  • Mix it up.
  • Stir in the scallions and celeriac.
  • Reserve some spring onions and/or chopped olives for serving if you like.
  • Stir in ground black pepper and chives.
  • Store in a bowl in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
  • Serve with celery stalks, carrots, peppers, crackers or chips.
