INGREDIENTS:

Dough:

  • 275 g plain flour
  • 75 g of sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 spoon of honey
  • 25 g of butter
  • ½ teaspoon of baking soda
  • 2 and ½ spoons of milk

For the cream:

  • 125 g softened butter
  • ½ can of salk
  • 100 g sour cream
  • 1 vanilla sugar

For decoration:

  • 30 g of walnuts

METHOD:

  • Melt butter with sugar, egg, soda, honey and milk in a water bath.
  • Mix everything thoroughly and pour into a bowl with flour.
  • We will create a stiffer dough, which we will divide into 5 equal pieces.
  • Roll each piece into a sheet and bake for about 7 minutes at 175°C.
  • We then adjust the plates into the desired shape and keep the scraps for the final decoration.
  • While the sheets are cooling, we will prepare the cream.
  • Mix the salko with softened butter.
  • The second cream is made by mixing cream and sugar.
  • We apply the fillings to the cooled plates. First from salka, then cream.
  • Finally, coat it with cream on all sides and sprinkle the scraps mixed with nuts.
  • Let cool overnight in the fridge.

Homemade Marlenka cake

Those who have tasted this Armenian mead will not want another.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 250 g of herria
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 spoons of dark honey
  • 300 g of granulated sugar
  • 400 g plain flour 00 extra
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • a good handful of walnuts for decoration

For the cream :

  • 1 can of caramel Salk (milk caramel)
  • 300 g of butter

METHOD:

  1. Put the game in the bowl and let it slowly dissolve in the water bath.
  2. Then beat the eggs into it and gradually add honey, sugar, flour and baking soda.
  3. Preheat the oven to 170°C.
  4. Stir the mixture in the bowl with a wooden spoon for approximately ten minutes, until the dough is golden in color.
  5. Divide the resulting dough into six equal parts.
  6. We spread the baking paper on the baking sheet and outline the cake form.
  7. Spread the dough into the circle with a rubber spatula in as thin a layer as possible.
  8. Bake the pancake until golden (seven to ten minutes) and do the same with the others.
  9. Cut the baked pancakes.
  10. We do not throw away the edges, you will need them for the final decoration.
  11. We will make cream and sprinkles.
  12. Beat butter and milk caramel until smooth.
  13. Finally, we prepare a sprinkling of cut pieces of dough.
  14. Place the slices in a bowl and finely crumble them with your fingers and mix in the finely chopped nuts.
  15. We will assemble the cake.
  16. Spread the cream on the first sheet.
  17. Cover with another pancake, which we again grease with butter cream.
  18. We repeat until we run out of honeycomb sheets.
  19. At the end, cover the entire cake, including the sides, with cream and sprinkle with the prepared sprinkles.
  20. Let it sit until at least the next day.

 TIP : If you can’t find milk caramel, buy a can of sweetened condensed milk, put it closed in a pot of water and boil it for about an hour and a half to two hours.
