A few points of interest at the end
Take a look at a nice video of how such ham is actually made.
Depending on the way ham is produced, it is divided into boiled, smoked or dried. Regardless, it is used in both cold and warm cuisine. It is basically one of the most used sausages.
What meat is used to make it?
- Pork
- Beef
- Chicken
- Turkey
Dried hams
During production, they are placed in predetermined spaces where optimal air flow is ensured for their trouble-free ripening. This way they will mature for several months and special types even for several years.
The champion in the production of cured hams is clearly Italy, where the most famous is Prosciutto di Parma, which has a completely characteristic and unmistakable taste.
Stewed hams
In most cases, pork leg is used, but it can also be shoulder ham or chicken breast ham. It is always necessary for the packaging to indicate which raw material was used. The meat is salted, filled into containers or molds and then processed during heat treatment.
Smoked hams
During production, meat comes into contact with many types of wood. This gives the meat a very specific taste. The advantage is that it is currently possible to regulate the temperature, smoke density and air humidity in smoking chambers.
