Make a simple water and sugar pickle that makes canning a breeze!

You will need

  • water
  • crystal Sugar

Preparation process

  • Prepare one part water and one part granulated sugar.
  • Mix both ingredients and bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  • Once the sugar has dissolved, turn off the heat and let the pickle cool.
  • Choose the amount of water and sugar according to the number of glasses with strawberries.

Dry canning of strawberries

You cannot preserve strawberries completely without water – they would spoil, but you can use their own juice.

You will need

  • strawberries
  • crystal Sugar

Preparation process

  • First clean the strawberries from the stems and wash them in water.
  • Put them in a larger pot and add sugar to them – the amount depends on your desired sweetness.
  • Slowly heat the strawberries to a boil, let them cook for 2 minutes.
  • Remove them from the flame and let them cool.
  • Then fill mason jars with them – pre-sterilized.
  • Tightly tighten the lids and place in the canning pot for 15 minutes at 85 degrees Celsius.
  • Place the finished glasses upside down on a tea towel and leave to cool until the next day.
  • Store in a cool, dark room – strawberries spoil easily.

Canning strawberries in the oven

For canning strawberries, use harder strawberries. Use our pickle from the beginning of the article and simply preserve strawberries in the oven.

You will need

  • strawberries
  • infusion

Preparation process

  • First, remove the stems from the strawberries and wash them.
  • Preheat the oven to 90 degrees.
  • Cut the larger strawberries in half, leave the smaller ones whole.
  • Prepare the sugary pickle.
  • Fill the glasses with strawberries and pour the cooled pickle over them.
  • Close the lid carefully and put it in a deep tray that you have lined with a tea towel.
  • Do not stack the glasses close to each other and pour a little water over them.
  • Place in the oven and bake for about 20 minutes.
  • After removing from the oven, turn the hot glasses upside down and let them cool down until the next day.

Canning strawberries in the microwave

You can also cook strawberries in the microwave. It’s simple and you only need strawberries and the pickle from the beginning of the article.

You will need

  • strawberries
  • sugary pickle

Preparation process

  • Wash the strawberries, remove the stalks and cut the large ones in half.
  • Make a pickle from water and sugar – determine the amount yourself according to the number of strawberries – a ratio of 1:1 is usually used.
  • Place the sliced strawberries in the sterilized jars.
  • Pour the cooled pickle over the strawberries.
  • Tightly tighten the lids and place the jars in a plastic bowl – this will prevent the juice from leaking out.
  • Put in the microwave and turn on the highest power – 700 Watts.
  • Boil for 6 minutes – double the time with each additional glass.
  • When finished, pull the jar out and turn it upside down.
  • Check that all jar lids are securely in place.
  • Allow to cool and then store.

Canning strawberries without sugar

It is known that if you decide to can strawberries without sugar, you have to count on the fact that they will not last long and will also be sour after opening. However, you can use fruit fructose as a sugar substitute.

You will need

  • strawberries
  • water

Preparation process

  • First, sterilize your canning jars.
  • Wash the strawberries and remove the stems.
  • Cut the large strawberries into halves or quarters – leave the smaller ones whole.
  • Put the strawberries in jars and pour boiled water up to the brim – close the lids.
  • Stack the jars in the canning pot – do not put them close to each other, pour water – so that they are completely submerged.
  • Cook at 85 degrees for 20 minutes.
  • Once you’re done, let the jars sit for another 5 minutes and then pull them out.
  • Turn the lid down and leave to cool.

Canning strawberry guava – psidia

Thanks to its sweet taste, the strawberry guava is a very popular fruit that you can easily grow on your balcony. Since guava fruits are very soft, they are used to make jam.

You will need

  • 450 g of strawberry guava
  • 350 g granulated sugar
  • water
  • pectin

Preparation process

  • Put the guava, water and sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
  • Cook slowly for about an hour, adding pectin to thicken.
  • Don’t be alarmed – the color changes during cooking.
  • To test if the consistency of the mixture is just right, put a small amount of the mixture on a plate, wait one minute and then run your finger over the mixture.
  • If the stretched part remains the same, it’s done – if the gap disappears, you need to cook even longer.
  • Prepare the canning jars according to the amount of jam.
  • Pour the hot mixture into the jars and seal tightly.
  • Turn the jars upside down and leave to cool.

Canning strawberries in the dishwasher

Can your strawberries simply in the dishwasher! It’s simple and anyone can do it with our instructions.

You will need

  • strawberries
  • infusion

Preparation process

  • Wash the strawberries, remove the stalks and cut them in half.
  • Place them in the prepared sterilized jars.
  • Pour the cooled pickle over the strawberries.
  • Close the lids on the jars very well.
  • Place the glasses in the dishwasher so that they stand straight and do not touch each other.
  • Choose the longest wash program – usually at 70-80 degrees and wait for the program to end.
  • Then pull out the jars and turn them upside down.
  • Allow to cool and store in a dark, cool place.

Homemade strawberry wine

You will need

  • 3 kg of strawberries
  • 2 liters of boiling water
  • squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 kg of granulated sugar

Preparation process

  • Wash the strawberries and remove the stem or pieces of leaves.
  • Grind them in a large clay pot.
  • Pour the boiling water over the mashed strawberries, add the lemon juice and stir quickly for about two minutes.
  • If you want to add wine yeast, add 2 teaspoons, but only when the mixture has reached a temperature of 30 degrees.
  • Close the container with a clean cloth and leave in a cool, dark place.
  • After one week, strain the mixture through a double layer of fine cloth.
  • Mix the resulting strawberry liquid with the sugar and stir to dissolve the sugar.
  • Pour the liquid into a clean container and let it stand for another week, stirring it daily.
  • After the second week, pour the strawberry liquid into large glass bottles and cork.
  • Let the bottles rest for three months in a cool, dark place.
  • When the wine is clear and no longer fermenting (bubbling), pour it into individual smaller glass bottles.
  • Cork them and let them age for at least one year.

Strawberry jam

It is great not only for pastries, but also as an ingredient in delicious strawberry pastries .

You will need

  • 1 kg of strawberries
  • 4 cups of sugar
  • ¼ cup lemon juice

Preparation process

  • Mash the strawberries in a large bowl.
  • Add sugar and lemon juice to the strawberries.
  • Place the mixture in a saucepan and stir over low heat until the sugar dissolves.
  • While stirring constantly, increase the heat to high and bring the strawberry mixture to a boil.
  • Then reduce the heat and continue to cook gently for about 10 minutes.
  • Then fill pre-sterilized jars with the hot mixture.
  • Close the jars tightly and turn them upside down.
  • Leave to cool until the next day and store in a dark and cool place.
