Just because you can’t get to the real village killer doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy these specialties.
Zabijačka still has a great tradition in villages, but products from it can also be bought in butcher shops.
All these recipes are very easy and anyone can choose them.
So let’s do it!
Black soup from the killer whale
You will probably know this soup under the name Prdelačka, and it is a classic Czech soup as you know it from zabijaček.
Ingredients
- 1.5 l of broth – ideally egg-based
- 2 tablespoons lard
- 1 onion
- 100 g of groats
- 300 ml of pig blood
- 2 teaspoons marjoram
- 3 cloves of garlic
- pepperoni and bread to serve
- salt
Method
- Pour the ovar broth into a pot, bring it to a boil and add the drained pork blood to it.
- Stir for about 20 minutes. Be careful not to boil, otherwise our blood would clot!
- In the meantime, cook the grits according to the instructions, drain and set aside for now.
- Add the cooked grits, season with salt, marjoram and crushed garlic.
- Served with fried onion and hot pepper. It tastes great with bread.

Killer intestine soup
You will have this very easy soup on the table in no time and its taste will amaze you.
Ingredients
- 1 onion
- 2 tablespoons lard
- 6 cups of broth
- 2 intestines
- 2 teaspoons marjoram
- 100 ml of red wine
- croutons
- salt pepper

Method
- Heat the lard in a saucepan and fry the diced onion in it.
- As soon as the onion has a golden color, pour the broth over it.
- Remove the intestines from the casings and add them to the soup along with a teaspoon of marjoram.
- Pour in the wine and cook on a low flame for about 5 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper, sprinkle croutons and serve.
Morning glory soup
Do you like killer soups but without the blood? Then this recipe will be just for you!
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons lard
- 1 onion
- 1 carrot
- 2 morning glory
- ¼ celery
- 1 potato
- ¼ cabbage
- 1 teaspoon marjoram
- 3 bay leaves
- parsley
- salt pepper
Method
- We fry the breadsticks in a little oil until golden on all sides.
- Pour in the broth and bring to a boil.
- Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan and fry finely chopped onion, carrot and celery. Sauté for about 5 minutes.
- Take out the morning glory and leave aside. We will use the broth later on the vegetables.
- Add potatoes, cabbage and cover with broth, add bay leaves, salt, pepper and marjoram.
- Cook over low heat for about 10-15 minutes until the vegetables are soft.
- Cut the morning glory into rounds and put back into the soup.
- Serve with fresh parsley.

Ovar soup
This fragrant soup is a great combination of pork, vegetables and grits. Try it at home too!
Ingredients
- 1 pork knee
- water
- 200 g of celery
- 1 parsley
- 2 carrots
- 2 onions
- 2 bay leaves
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 100 g of groats

Method
- Place the pork knee in a pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil and cook over low heat for about 1.5 hours.
- In the meantime, cook the grits according to the instructions.
- 20 minutes before the end, add the cleaned vegetables to the pot.
- As soon as the meat is soft, remove the knee from the water, peel the meat and cut it into cubes and put it back into the soup.
- Add grits to the soup, season with salt and pepper and serve.

Homemade killer soup
Can’t get to killer products but would still like to have a delicious soup? No problem, you can easily make a great pork soup at home.
Ingredients
- 1.5 kg pork with bone
- 2 carrots
- 2 potatoes
- 1 parsley
- 2 bay leaves
- 5 balls of allspice
- salt pepper
Method
- Place the pork and bones in a saucepan and cover with cold water.
- Bring to a boil slowly. Add the bay leaf, new spices and simmer for 2 hours on a low flame.
- Half an hour before the end, add cleaned carrots, potatoes and parsley.
- Strain the finished soup. Remove the meat from the bones, chop the vegetables and put everything back into the soup.
- Season with salt and pepper.
