Learn more about some of their health benefits.

  1. May support heart health
Strawberries are rich in color pigments that have a protective effect – these anthocyanidins are thought to have a number of potential health benefits, including the prevention of inflammation and heart disease.
  2. It can regulate blood sugar levels
Eating strawberries appears to slow our digestion of glucose and moderate insulin use, especially when eaten with a high-carbohydrate meal.
  3. They can be helpful for those with type 2 diabetes
Strawberries contain protective plant compounds called polyphenols, two of which—ellagic acid and ellagitannins—have shown promise in managing some conditions of type 2 diabetes.
  4. They can help with weight management
Strawberries have a low glycemic index and as such help to moderate the release of sugar in the blood. Studies suggest that a diet rich in low-index foods may be beneficial for weight management and for reducing the incidence of obesity-related diseases.

Are strawberries safe for everyone?

If you have an allergy to birch or apple pollen, you are more likely to develop a secondary food allergy to strawberries. Strawberries, along with fruits including apples, peaches, avocados, and blueberries, contain natural chemicals called salicylates. Some people are sensitive to these compounds and may experience an allergic reaction including skin rash and swelling.
