Classic potato with mushrooms
Thanks to the potatoes, they are quite satiating. The mushrooms then add a balanced taste that simply belongs to the potato.
INGREDIENTS
- 750 g of potatoes
- 20 g of dried mushrooms
- 2 tablespoons plain flour
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- 1.5 liters of water (including the water from the potatoes)
- 1 clove of garlic
- ground black pepper
- marjoram
- salt
- caraway seeds
METHOD
- Peel and dice the potatoes and boil them in salted water until soft.
- Soak the mushrooms in water for at least half an hour beforehand.
- Then we fry them in butter, sprinkle them with cumin and let them simmer for a while.
- After 5 minutes, cover the mushrooms with flour, sauté for a while, and then cover with a cup of water.
- Mix everything well so that no lumps form and add the potatoes and water.
- Add marjoram, salt and pepper.
- Cook for another 10 minutes and season with pressed garlic.

Honest homemade potatoes without mushrooms
Grandma’s recipe for potato chips is not difficult. On the contrary, this soup is very simple to prepare.
INGREDIENTS
- 4 potatoes
- ¾ of a smaller head of celery
- 5 cloves of garlic
- 2 carrots
- 1 parsley
- water
- 5 tablespoons plain flour
- 5 tablespoons of butter
- crushed cumin
- marjoram
- salt
- pepper
METHOD
- Dice celery, potatoes, parsley and carrots.
- Melt the butter, sprinkle with flour and make a light batter.
- Then gradually pour water into the roux.
- Mix everything thoroughly so that no lumps form.
- Add salt, pepper, cumin, marjoram, potatoes, parsley, celery and carrots.
- Boil everything until soft.
- Before the end, add pressed cloves of garlic and cook briefly.

Potatoes with smoked meat
Do you have to have at least a piece of meat in every soup? Why not? For inspiration, we offer this potato soup with smoked meat.
INGREDIENTS
- 250 g of smoked meat
- 3 large potatoes
- 3 carrots
- 2 parsley
- ¼ celery
- 4 cloves of garlic
- a spoonful of marjoram
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 2 tablespoons plain flour
- salt
- pepper
- chives, parsley to taste
METHOD
- Cut potatoes, carrots, celery and parsley into cubes
- Fry everything in butter, then pour in a liter and a half of water.
- Add diced smoked meat, marjoram, salt and pepper.
- We make a broth from butter and flour, to which we slowly add a little water from the soup.
- Stir to avoid lumps, then add the mixture to the soup.
Cook everything until soft. - At the end, add crushed garlic.
- We can also add parsley and chives to taste.

- 300 g of potatoes
- 200 g of fresh mushrooms
- 1 onion
- 1 tablespoon lard
- 2 tablespoons plain flour
- 5 cups of water
- crushed cumin

METHOD
- Cut the onion into cubes and fry in lard.
- Clean the mushrooms and cut them into slices.
- We also add mushrooms, cumin and simmer.
- Then dust everything with flour and fry.
- Add paprika, let it boil for a while, then cover with water, add pepper, salt and marjoram.
- Then add the peeled and cubed potatoes to the hot water.
- Cook until soft and add flavor if necessary.
- Serve with fresh parsley.

Creamy soup with sour potatoes
Someone likes it sour. And not only during pregnancy. The combination of potatoes and mild acidity goes well together.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 kg of potatoes
- 1 onion
- 325 ml of sweet cream
- 1 liter of broth (vegetable)
- 700 ml of water
- salt
- 3 balls of black pepper
- 2 tablespoons of vinegar
- oil
- Bay leaf
- 2 tablespoons plain flour
METHOD
- Finely chop the onion.
- Peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes.
- Fry the onion in oil, then add the potatoes and fry for a while longer.
- We also add black pepper, bay leaf and cover with hot broth and water.
- Add salt and cook until the potatoes are soft.
- Then thicken the soup with cream mixed with flour.
- Cook for another 10 minutes and finally season with vinegar.

Potato soup with hail
Potato soup with grits is such a retro delicacy. But beware! Thanks to the hailstones, it is very nutritious, as they contain quite a few minerals.
INGREDIENTS
- 5 large potatoes
- ¾ cup of fine grits
- 1 onion
- marjoram
- ground sweet pepper
- 3 cloves of garlic
- crushed cumin
- oil
- salt
- pepper
METHOD
- Fry diced onion in oil.
- We add hailstones, crushed cumin, paprika and continue to stir-fry.
- Then cover with water, salt and cook until soft.
- Then add diced potatoes, marjoram and cook until soft again.
- Finally, season with crushed garlic.

A typical combination is potatoes, mushrooms and marjoram. Cumin and garlic are also added for a more pronounced taste.
Other ingredients for potato chips have more of a regional or family tradition.
Sometimes, for example, a handful of cooked groats or small groats, some peas or beans, browned bacon or a few spoons of cream are added, as well as spices such as bay leaf or allspice.
There are many recipes for potato pancakes, but most of them use roux to thicken. This makes the soup even thicker.
