Yogurt Lime Sorbet

This is certainly the season for dipping your spoon into a scoop of homemade sorbet. Add a little extra healthy punch by using yogurt for a creamy and icy sorbet.  This frozen treat features the tweet and tart flavor of a key lime pie. Enjoy!

Whisk yogurt, simple syrup, Key Lime Pie Cheese Ball Mix and ½ cup water in a medium bowl until blended together. Process in an ice cream maker according to manufacturer’s instructions. Transfer to an airtight container; cover and freeze until firm, at least 2 hours.  


To Make Simple Syrup Keep this staple in your fridge so you will have it on hand for other YUMMY uses like cocktail hour! Ingredients : 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water. Preparation : Combine sugar and water in a jar, cover, and shake until sugar is dissolved. Simple syrup can be made 3 months ahead. Cover and keep chilled.
 
No Ice Cream Maker? No Problem! Follow our By Hand directions below
  1. Combine the ingredients for your Key Lime Yogurt Ice Sorbet following the recipe. Chill the mixture over an ice bath. Meanwhile, freeze an empty freezer-safe shallow bowl or pan. Stainless steel works well for this.
  2. Place the cold mixture into the cold pan.
  3. Chill for about 20 minutes and check your sorbet. As the edges start to freeze, stir the mixture rapidly with a whisk or spatula to break up the partially frozen ice cream. This will help make it smooth and creamy. You cannot over-beat. Return to the freezer.
  4. Stir sorbet vigorously every 30 minutes until it is firmly frozen. This may be repeated 4 to 5 times until mixture is smooth and creamy. If ice cream becomes too hard, place it into the refrigerator until it becomes soft enough to beat and continue the process.
  5. Ripen the sorbet by storing it in a covered freezer container until ready to serve.
